Woodcut

Period from 1950-1965
Woodcut is a relief printing technique, where a smooth block of wood is machined by a hand tool, so that just the requested shapes are elevated. Thereafter, these shapes get dyed and are printed on paper – either stamp-likely by hand or with the help of a press.

Aquatint

Period from 1965-2002
Aquatint is a gravure printing technique. Under this method, the surface of a metal plate is machined by heating, etching and sprinkling processes, subject to the desired strength of the hue: The more rough the surface of the printing plate, the stronger the colour tone. Finally, the coloured printing plate is pressed on paper by an etching press.

Oil crayon

From 2002
The oil crayon found its way into art through industrial applications. Oil crayons, consisting of waxes, greases, fillers and colour pigments, can be easily applied on smooth surfaces. In the 1950s, this method received a lot of attention – not least thanks to Pablo Picasso.
